Web Page Accessibility and Section 508 Compliance

Noble takes Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 seriously. We invest in software applications to help us automate the web crawling process needed to identify where certain aspects of the HTML on our web pages are not compliant with the Section 508 standard. One software identifies deficiencies, and the other tool helps us to not only adjust or correct the errors but to create standards within the pages such as text sizes, colors, and fonts throughout the site to reduce the number of errors as new versions of HTML are displayed. The tools used include:

  • Accessibility Insights for Web, by Microsoft

  • Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool, which was developed and is administered by WebAIM at Utah State University
