NOBLE’s Mike Stucki Competes in NHL Veterans Hockey Tournament

Mike Stucki, NOBLE Vice President of C5ISR Systems, had what he expressed as the “experience of a lifetime” as a participant in the National Hockey League’s Veterans Showcase Hockey Tournament.

As described by the NHL, the event honors military veterans from across the United States. Each year, the Veterans Showcase celebrates four military veteran hockey teams. This year, 60 veterans took part in the tournament which was held in conjunction with the 2023 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

“Being invited by the NHL and Navy Federal to play in the Veterans Showcase Hockey Tournament, as part of the NHL Stadium Series weekend, was the experience of a lifetime,” Stucki said.

As a former Division I player at the Air Force Academy, Stucki explained, “Being able to play competitive hockey again with a group of veterans who have so many shared experiences on and off the ice would have been enough on its own, but then the NHL went above and beyond by providing us with a full tour of the outdoor game facilities, they brought in Mark Messier and Lauren Gardner for a private conversation and even had the Stanley Cup on hand for us to see.”

Stucki continued, “To cap off the amazing experience, they had all of us veterans skate on the ice before the game and present the American Flag for the Anthem, which was the size of the entire rink! It was amazing.”
