Do you know the history and significance of Red Poppies on Memorial Day?
In 1915, Moina Michael wrote a poem inspired by another poem called "The Flanders Field".
We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.

She then became the first to wear red poppies on Memorial Day in honor of the lives lost during war. She even sold them to her friends and co-workers and donated the money to servicemen in need. From there, this tradition grew wildly throughout the world! Other nations now display red poppies as a symbol of memorial for the lost in their war history.

Artificial red poppies made by disabled veterans are now sold all over the nation.
